Hi! :D

I am new to this forum...sort of! I registered a long time ago because I was asking for infomation on Chihuahuas. Well after doing a lot of research, I realized that a Chihuahua would not work for me, so...after a lot more research, I am now the proud mommy of a pure bred labrador retriever named Caileag (pronounced Ka-lick), which is Gaelic for "little girl". She is fox red in colour (from the yellow lab group, but fox red is darker and obviously more red in colour).

She is fully crate and house trained and right now is with her trainer for the month for hunt and obedience training. We are going to compete her in the junior hunt trials this summer...we are really excited because she loves to retrieve so much; we know it will be so much fun for her.

She will be 8 months old on December 3 and I have enclosed some pictures of her.

We are also getting her a little sister (a chocolate female) from the same breeder, which we are taking home early spring. She is 7 weeks old right now, but we are leaving her with them until she is about 5-6 months old so that they will house and crate train her before she comes home. I don't have any pictures of her developed yet, but as soon as I do I will post them. We also haven't picked a name for her yet...we are still deciding on that! :D

I also have two male short haired guinea pigs, Momo and Gomi (pronounced Go-mee). They are both just over a year old and are cheeky little buggers. They love to eat and are sure to remind me every morning that breakfast needs to be served! I have enclosed a picture of them also! :D

Thanks for reading and I can't wait to meet you and share information and stories with you!

Thanks! :D

BMDLuver: I really wanted a Chihuahua, but I also wanted to match the dog to my lifestyle. My finacÚ and I are active people and lap dogs probably aren't for us. Plus I was told that Chis are very delicate and I would be worried about hurting one!

We are having a blast right now with Caileag. She has brought so much joy to our lives...we are even considering certifying her as a therapy dog since she has such a great personality and is wonderful and gentle with kids and the elderly.

We are also excited to get her a little sister...actually half sister. Same dad, different mother. I think they will get along just great!

Thanks!

I have now some pictures of Caileag's little sister. She still remains nameless, but we plan on having that sorted out this week.

These pictures unfortunately do not give her justice. They are too dark and the colour is off, but they are all I have at the moment. She is actually a beautiful chocolate brown. Also, her eye colour is in the process of changing to that nice yellow that most chocolates have.

So here she is:

Thanks so much! :D

I can't wait until she is big and brave enough to play with Caileag. We introduced them on Saturday and the little one was still pretty scared of her...it was kind of funny though; Caileag would go to play with her and she would stick her tail between her legs and cry with fear, but then as soon as Caileag would walk away, her tail would come out and she would follow Caileag around!

Soon they will be buddies and will be able to play together. The puppy is still with the breeders and will remain there until about February because they are going to keep her and house and crate train her for us. Caileag is there for another two weeks for force training so we have been trying to get the two pups introduced.
