:pawprint: Well my name is Lindsay and live in Newmarket, Ontario. I have a kitten that will be a year old on November 21, 2005. I am looking to get her a friend/companion, I would love to find an older cat that is in need of a new and loving home. I don't know if that may pose a problem or not, I've heard that the older a cat gets, the less likely it is that they will get along. Is that true? She has had a bit of an interesting time, her "daddy" my ex fiance has just recently left us and she seems to be a bit upset the poor girl and I thought that a friend would help... I hope :fingerscr

HI Lindsay!

Your cat may enjoy having a friend, but you must do slow and proper introductions. A female kitten, or an easy going young neutered male may work!

There are tons of cats looking for homes all around your area. Heres' one example:

You can adopt this kitten, or one like her at Abbey Cat Adoptions in Toronto!http://www.petfinder.org/shelters/ON76.html

Oh those cats are both cute - I am sure your kitten will do fine if you take the time to introduce the newcomer properly. She may even, like mine, welcome a playmate! But you need to find a suitable location for the newbie, isolate her at first so she is not too scared, let each kitty get used to one another smells by switching say towels or toys (or neutraling smells by dabbing vanilla on each one) and carefully introducing each one. I am sure if you do a search here like "introducing new cat". several replies will come up.

Good luck - don't forget to check out petfinder.com
