I found these boards a few weeks ago when my dog was sick and I needed advice and support. I'm a coach on another website (nutrition related, not pet) but have had very little experience with other message boards.

I was so pleased with the helpfulness and the general tone of the boards. Everyone is so polite that it's easy to feel comfortable.

Sadly we lost our Joey and it was DEVASTATING.

But I so appreciated the advice we received here, and although we said we would not get another dog--we've been looking. And our college kids would love to have another furry in the house by the holidays. I look forward to spending more time here, and as I said, I appreciate the pleasant and helpful atmosphere here.

I'm so sorry for your loss.:sorry:

Welcome to the board, though. If you need any advice on breeders or rescues, there are a ton of people involved in it who can steer you in the right direction.:) (I hope in your short time here you've learned about puppy mills and pet store puppies... )

Oh, and we have an arcade too, just in case you don't get addicted enough to the site as it is... :o

Prin, thank you for your condolences and your welcome.

Joey was a rescue dog. Most likely badly abused, and we strongly suspect that he was originally a puppy mill puppy. He was a shih tzu, but larger than the breed standard and with an eye problem, crooked teeth, a googly eye. I know he doesn't sound pretty, but he was beautiful to me !!!

Could you direct me to the best place on this site to get more info regarding breeders and rescues?

Also, what is the arcade? Good grief--there is a lot going here !!:)

As for breeders what breeds would you be looking at and are you looking for a pup or adult. If you need help with choosing a breed go to www.ckc.ca or www.akc.org

Stacey, thank you so much. I checked out the AKC site and was DELIGHTED to find numbers in my area--even one in my town. I'll be making some calls on Monday.

I may never get my sleep now that I've found this website !
