CTV News will be highlighting a the rescue of several dogs and puppies from puppy mill in Blainville, Quebec on the late news tonite. This is the story as it appears on the CTV site:

If these are the same dogs, then they are all presently at Laval SPCA in holding. How timely shortly before the board convenes to reinstate directors or not.

The doggies were eating each other.:(
November 11th, 2005, 10:15 PM
That's just awful. Just goes to show some people are sick b*st*rds!
November 11th, 2005, 11:40 PM
I just watched and am sickened. I was also amazed that Quebec has only ten inspectors while Ontario has over two hundred. Quebec needs to address this. What needs to be done? Waiting for the Federal government could take forever.

A sad part was when Lloyd was introducing the story and he said something like, "We tell you these stories to help expose them, but it's not working in Quebec.":( :( :(

Entire copy from another post by PittBulliest...hope it's okay to share the info this way:
Criminal Code in Canada: Bill C-50
The new bill moves animals out of the property section of the Criminal Code,
and provides tougher punishments for killing or harming an animal, or for
failing to provide adequate care. On May 16, 2005, Justice Minister Irwin
Cotler reintroduced animal cruelty legislation in the House of Commons which
will amend the Criminal Code.
The new legislation is known as Bill C-50.
Although this is the fifth time similar legislation has come before
Parliament - on four previous occasions the legislation has died when
elections were called. Read more
(http://www.cfhs.ca/legislation/Current_information/) and find out how you
can help (http://www.cfhs.ca/legislation/sample_letter_to_m_p/).
write to the Honourable Irwin Cotler in support of Bill C-50 and write to
your MP urging them to support the legislation.
PASS IT ON!

This has got to stop. It is insane. The video was soooooooooo graphic on the news last night at six that I had their poor little images in my head all night. Their is a picture in the Gazette this morning that is 100 % better than what was on the news and still it is DISGUSTING.
If you want to write your MP this is the link to locate with your postal code. The sample letter says it all. If you send your letter to the House of Commons you don't even have to pay for postage!

I saw it last night on the news too. It had me in tears. I still have images of those poor puppers in my head too. It's just not right. Freakin' government.

I just wrote to my MP and you should all do the same!
Come on folks, let's go! :thumbs up

It might be time to start a new petition as this one's deadline was July 2004 and was addressed to Prime Minister Chretien!

I saw this on the ctv news channel, around midnight last night. So sad. Those poor dogs, I hope they are given top treatment from this point on. I will be writing and also contacting my MP in support of BillC-50.
Did anyone else notice next to the news casters head (is his name Lloyd?) was a box of a still picture, before it went into the actual story footage, and it was of a cute white pitbull infront of a Quebec flag!!??!!
I know the puppy mill consisted of poodle and ****zu type dogs. Just thought this was interesting.

Even after posting that, I missed it!! I had a phone call and by the time it was over, the segment was too, sigh - am going to check the CTV site. I am no fan of petitions - having worked for a political party leader as a student, I see how much they do (mostly zip). Politicians pay attention to letters and phoe calls from people who live in their riding and can vote for them - so in the case of the federal legislation, writing your MP in your own words (NO FORM letters - those too just say the person can't bother to take the time or cares enough about the issue to write their own letter. A badly worded heartfelt letter goes much further than any form letter ever will!) and write Irwin Cotler. (who is from Montreal and quite learned in human rights so he should be interested in this issue!).

It was a fox terrier mill I believe from what was said by employees of SPCA.

Ya, they looked like mini white airdales... They said that the mom died a couple of years ago and her kids let it go to that. I can't imagine what the mom is thinking if she sees them from wherever she is.
November 12th, 2005, 10:44 PM
Okay, they were in such poor shape I could not tell what breed they were and I was not listening to closely as I was in shock and disgust. But, just like I said before, next to the news casters head (is his name Lloyd?) was a box of a still picture, before it went into the actual story footage, and it was of a cute white pitbull infront of a Quebec flag!!??!!

Well, that's Quebec for you... show we accept pitbulls and puppymills. I'm sure it was readily supplied by a certain Monsieur.
