Instead of his girl,
He holds his gun in his hands
At a time when,
For most,
It's "boys will be boys"
He's had to become a man
When many are thinking of thier future
He's hoping for one
From the beaches of Normandy
To the trenches of Vimy Ridge
He, and many others, took his last breath
So that we may continue to breath freedom
He lies in a foreign land
His grave marker "unknown soldier"
Unknown
But not forgotten
And for his sacrifice
He asked for nothing,
And in return
He got our eternal gratitude
In memory of my uncle, and with thanks to my grandfather and the brave men and women who have fought, and continue to fight for our freedom
He holds his gun in his hands
At a time when,
For most,
It's "boys will be boys"
He's had to become a man
When many are thinking of thier future
He's hoping for one
From the beaches of Normandy
To the trenches of Vimy Ridge
He, and many others, took his last breath
So that we may continue to breath freedom
