Official Teeth for the Ages Thread...

Prin
November 3rd, 2005, 10:39 PM
Ok, we'll start the first thread on the net comparing dogs' teeth at different ages.

Here's Jemma's front teeth at approx 3 years old. (She lost one front one in a freak snowball catching accident...)

As you can see, her teeth are not perfectly rounded. There are still little processes on the sides. :)

And her molars at approx 3 years old. Note that they are a little bit yellow, not perfectly white anymore. ;)

And if people ever want to find this thread on the net, we have to use words like "estimating a dog's age by its teeth"... Teeth, teeth, teeth... :D

Here are Layla's teeth at about 9 months.. still nice and pointy (and white) But if my orthodontist saw her, he'd probably try to put braces on her front teeth

Wow, the bottom ones have really sharp edges. :)

Yeah, hence the short life span of any toy that enters my home. :p

Well I must say getting a picture of Kayla's teeth was no easy task! Here is one of her molars. She is 1 year and 4 months old.

Getting the front teeth was much harder using my toy method so now I'm reverting to the vet method! You can see she is young from the ridges still in her teeth.

And of course the canine's canines.

Cute pics Dukieboy! How old was Duke in this picture? So many people have been asking about how to tell a dogs age from the teeth so we decided to start a tooth with ages thread since there aren't any on the internet. (You can follow the thread that led to this thread here: http://www.pets.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=20957)

So don't forget the ages! :p

Dukieboy
November 4th, 2005, 09:45 AM
Duke is just a couple of months shy of 2yrs.

Thanks for making this a "sticky" Prin :)

I was waiting and hoping that Santa would bring me a digital camera, but I may go get one sooner, so I can post Simon's teeth on here :)

Maybe we can compare and guess his age....

LOL It's not a sticky yet... We have to make it a high quality teethy thread for it to become a sticky... :fingerscr

Anybody else have some teeth?

It wasn't me, I swear :) !! My friend has an intact basset/labX who humps and licks Dodger's bum...causing Dodger to get testy!!

I quite enjoyed his behaviour - its the only time I've seen him stick up for himself! :D

It can't be any worse than Prin's Jaguar!! :D

I find it so funny because on Jemma, a growly face looks natural... On Dodger it looks so unnatural and funny... Like a sweety with his lips up, you know? :)

Maybe Jemma's had more practice - this was the first time for Dodger!? Or perhaps it's the droopy ears, making the threat less intimidating!?! :D

Tucker is such a nice looking doggie! Great white teeth.. do you brush them at all or does all the chewing do it?

doggy lover
November 10th, 2005, 03:45 PM
My daughter brushes them every two weeks but he does love to chew too. My vet said that his teeth are just wonderful.

Barry: "Don't eat me pleaaaseee"

Joey: "Just wait till I get my teeth in you Barry"

Barry: "Oh please, let me live"

Joey: "I will let you live, so I can torture you more in 5 minutes ha ha ha!!!"

oops forgot to add Joey is six, he has some decay on his back molar which we are watching, not sure if we should get it pulled. He eats carrots and I put doggie tooth paste on his teeth tee
