A few things from around here . . . .

The last few mornings have been frosty . . . .

Abby & Keeper have a tug of war at sunrise with the Rockies behind them and frost on the grass . . .

Polly doesn't have back feet but that doesn't prevent her, with supervision, from going investigating on frost-tinged grass at sunrise . . . .

Oh, oh . . . . looks like these guys have got Keeper spotted.

The innocence of Keeper and the cool, calculating appraisal of Abby . . . .

What type of deer do you get there, we get white tailed deer, actually I had one walk past my back yard the other day. Yes right here in the big city, it was a young doe. But we also get white tailed at our cottage.

We have white-tailed deer and mule deer . . . . they're almost indistinguishable unless you see them running or get close enough to look at their subtle markings differences.

Abby and Keeper and me found these guys IN Calgary, believe it or not, in Fish Creek Park, two weekends ago.

My wife Carol took this picture a few mornings ago, sun rising on the Rockies with Abby and Keeper watching the valley . . .

One of these years I'll have to get out to see the mountains, I've been east but never west of Ont. Your pics are just beautiful.

I've never been west either. Your pics are great, Ric. They're making me want to pack up the bike and head out!

Biking out on the highways around here is a popular thing to do (park on the edge of the city and head out to Bragg Creek or Turner Valley or start in Longview and head into Kananaskis, etc, etc) . . . nice roads with wide shoulders. In my youth, I rode down through BC, Idaho, Montana and back to Alberta, another trip to Kelowna through the Roger's Pass and another time Jasper to Lake Louise on the Icefields Parkway).

I juiced up my old road bike and have been out a bit this summer . . . . . and I run out on the highway, which you can barely see, crossing the last picture in my post above, heading towards the mountains (Highway 549 if you have a map).

Yes, very fine biking around here.

Driving the Icefields Parkway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, in late August, as seen through the windshield, nice wide shoulders on the road, coming up on Bow Lake I believe . . . .

If you're a voyeur, pictures from that Jasper/Lake Louise drive and other things are on my "dump" page at the web address below, a page not connected to my site but more for entertaining my relatives . . . . . you'll need hi-speed to see it all.
