Feline Diabetes - Newly Diagnosed!

Hello There,

My boy tuffy was diagnosed with Feline Diabetes 2 days ago. i am really scared and I am hoping that someone here can help me answer a few questions.

Tuffy is 7 1/2 years old. He is overweight and has recently began drinking more water than I do!
The vet diagnosed him with FDM and put him on Glyburide (1/2 tablet twice a day) as well as a new diet (Purina DM).

I am planning to do home testing to determine his BG levels, but I don't know what exactly I should be looking for? What are the normal ranges for cats to be in?? What is considered too hi?
What is the best test to use on Tuffy?
How many times per day should I test his levels??

LOTS of knowledge on the bulletin board. You will get more information than you ever wanted. :)

Occasionally feline diabetes will resolve itself after diagnosis. I've seen it happen.

Some of the people on that board are so educated on feline diabetes that they are probably more up to date and knowledgable about treatment etc than their vets.

Try not to worry too much - it could be any number of much worse things!!
