Tasha is my american eskimo. she is 13 and she keeps trying to scratch her behind or puts her paw there and goes to town...
she licks her paws alot and they are red.

I was wondering if the first thing was her anal sac.
she has always licked her paws but what can I do to help her?

by the way, I notice she scratches when she comes in from outdoors. I'm thinking maybe a grass allergy.

The fact that she keeps trying to scratch her behind is an indication that it may have something to do with her anal glands. Does she scoot along the floor?

Biting at her paws is usually a sign of allergies. Since her paws are red and sore, you may need to get something from your vet to help calm her itchiness. It may also be a good idea to have the vet check her out to rule out any infection on her paws or behind and they can clean out her anal glands.

well, we did take her to the vet and he gave her antibiotics for the itching and it worked but now she's back to it.
no, she doesn't scoot her butt on the floor, she just tries to scratch and nibble in that area......
doc mentioned allergies and what kinds she might have, he did mention grass...
