Aiding and abetting

This is a letter to the editor in todays Sun, It really puts into perspective, the differance between the rights of hard drug users(and criminals in general) and the rights of law bidding dog owners in Ontario, with a nice dig at Bryant by the Sun's editor

Aiding and abetting

The City of Toronto is looking for approval to hand out crack kits and set up safe injection sites for illegal drug use. Possession of a drug like crack is illegal. Why is the city planning to aid and abet criminals in pursuit of their chosen habit? And out of my tax dollars, no less. I am a responsible, law-abiding, working and tax-paying dog owner and I am subject to search and seizure of my property without a search warrant --just because I own a dog. Who are the criminals in this province?

Dianne Singer

Toronto

(We'd like to hear Michael Bryant's answer to that)

The Health Department of the City of Ottawa hands out disposable crack pipes to junkies... Maybe that's what they are talking about.

Those crack pipes really get my goat too... I'm an insulin depandant diabetic, and I have to pay for medical supplies out of my pocket to keep me alive, yet they give crack pipes out for free to anyone who asks... Where's the justice there?!

OK, I get handing out needles to heroin junkies to prevent the spread of disease. What are you preventing by handing out a crackpipe. I don't agree with this whole safe place to do your drugs trend that is happening.

Its to prevent the spread of Hep C. Crack users get cracked lips and share broken pipes. The kit contains a new glass tube, lipsyl or vaseline for the lips and gauze.

Lets here it for free rolling papers!!!

Its crazy also that you can smoke crack inside and the tax paying cigarette smokers aren't even allowed to smoke in smoking rooms that are masked off from the non smokers. So I have to go outside to smoke my LEGAL cigarette that the government makes a killing off selling and produces commercials calling us stupid (stupid.ca) and then turns around and allows a damn crackhead to go into a nice warm setting with all there buddies and get high as hell and then go out onto the street on crack.

And diabetics have to pay for their needles?

You know, they say that people are dying from driving at high speeds on the highway...I can hardly wait for those high speed zones! Woo Hoo! Oh, and how about the people who get killed during the commision of a robbery? Man, I hope they have bikes in those "free stealing" zones! But the best one? When they come out with the "beat the pulp out of some putz" in the "free assault" zone! Bryant better watch out for that one! Let's hope they put that zone in Queen's park! I'll be driving there at 180 with my stolen bat!

Yes but you won't be in the steal a car free zone so you may be in trouble. I'd just use your fists.

Needles are the cheap part. The monthly cost of insulin and test strips (to see what your blood sugar is) runs about $300. If you have an insulin pump, you have to pay for that out of pocket ($7000) and those supplies will run you closer to $500 a month. Its tax deductable if you don't make much money, and a portion is paid if you're lucky enough to have medical insurance. I understand its all paid for (just regular shots, not the pump) if you're on social assistance, but otherwise, you're dead within days if you don't have money for the insulin...

I like to drive drunk. However I know that I may actually harm somebody else by doing so. How about a police escort home? That way i get to do what I like to do and the risk is reduced as I just have to keep it between the two cruisers.

I understand that crack addicts might spread disease by sharing pipes but I do not support this if an equal amount of money and time isn't spent on busting the dealers selling this garbage.

(BTW I never drink and drive and seldom even drink.)

As for Michael Bryant - he's an idiot.

Crack pipes eh? hmmm. As long as there's free stuff going around, why not give it a try?

Hey, I'm giving out free things too! For you my special friends, I have free "Beat your Premier" sticks, or I have the McGill Special "Dr Broom", which can come with the free adapter, such that it is compatible with Premiers too. :)

(BTW, McGill's hazing thing is not funny for them, but for us at the "other" nameless faceless universities, it's great joke material. "Shut up or I'll get Dr Broom." :D )

Based on some of the laws being passed around here the people that are making the most use of crack pipes in the city are spending a lot of time at Queens Park .
