My dog has had this really harsh cough for the last couple of days as though it is trying to cough up something that is in its throat. It does not cough all the time and when asleep its breathing is fairly noisy like snoring. It does not seem distressed or anything. Auction is 11 years old. Has anyone got any ideas what could be wrong with her?

You need to take your dog to the vet.

Coughing can be caused from anything from bordatella (kennel cough) to congestive heart failure to heartworms etc. There could even be something stuck in her throat. Only a vet can answer your questions.
