Maggots in food causing vommitting?

September 2nd, 2003, 11:39 PM
Hi. My dog is an 11 month old wolf/husky mix and she was fine until today. Yesterday I noticed there were flies all over her food and today the kids went out to feed her and found maggots in her food and now she is sick, vommitting and lethargic.

Any ideas? Please.

I don't know if the maggots would cause that, but if it doesn't subside in a few hours (maybe as much as a day), a call to the vet is probably in order.

There are so many other reasons she could be lethargic and vomiting.

Take her to the vet if the vomiting has lasted two or more days!

What kind of food are you leaving out for her to eat?
Canned or Dry? It's not surprising for the maggots to appear if it is canned being left outside for her. I hope you are leaving the food away from any garbage, that may be the cause of flies or maggots appearing.

Is it not possible to feed her indoors?
