How much is too much? Is a little eye discharge normal?

you should always call your vet if you notice anything out of the norm... that said, more info may help, such as is there any color to the goo? one eye? both eyes? any other symptoms (appetite or behavioral changes)? etc...

Spencer gets eye goobies almost daily (worse in the summer) but the vet didn't seem too worried about it. Spencer's one eye will run from time to time as well but the eye itself looks fine. I think he just gets it from playing too hard with Sydney.

My puppy's eyes look fine. He has always had a little eye discharge...whitish in colour. His eye's aren't runny at all. I guess it's like what humans get sometimes when they wake up (what is the medical name for that stuff anyhow?). I've just heard that I should contact the vet if my dog has eye discharge but I wanted to see what is normal or what isn't.

The bigger the dog or the droopier the eye lids, the more goobers there are... As long as they're not green, red or any other festive color, you should be ok. :)
