it's so tragic when a pup loses it's life to the road.... my neighbor's young lab, Charli (about a year old), was struck and killed by a car yesterday. She was my pup's girlfriend... they played almost everyday together.
Rest in peace Miss Charli...Tucker and I will never forget you.

How sad! Pups don't know the reasons behind thier friends being gone....all they know is that they're not around anymore....and they don't know why.
I hope Tucker isn't too depressed.

That is one promise I make to all my furbabies. That they will NEVER die under the wheels of a vehicle. It is a completely preventable death. USE A LEASH !!! I don't care how well trained your dog is, there is always something that can tempt them and you won't be able to recall them in time.
That freedom of being off leash is no gift to them, if they end up dead.
This is one of the few things that really gets me hot!!!! They trusted you and YOU LET THEM DOWN!!!!
RIP Charlie

Goldengirl...I too made this promise to our collie , but unfortunately there are things that are out of your control. We were watching a friends dog for the weekend and there were some kids outside that were playing with firecrackers. Well, unbeknown to us, my friends dog had a fear of this noice and literally broke through our 5foot fence. Sable followed not knowing what all this excitement was about ..and I followed trying to call my Sable back. Right in front of my eyes a car came around the corner, speeding and Sable turned around to come back and was struck. He died on impact. Sable was always on a leash and never left the yard without one. Who would have thought that by following her friend out of the yard he would have died such a terrible death. No one wants to lose a pet to a vehicle, but somethings are just out of your control. It will be 7 years now that Sable past away and the image still haunts me.
