hi i'm luckydog well not so lucky at the moment. I live in england with my handsome old english sheep dog cross golden retriever who is 2 yrs old. my problem well my dogs problem (lucky) is that he has liver damage due to a mass infection 4 weeks ago that nearly killed him, the vet seems to think it was a thorn that went into his underside of his hind leg that coursed the blood poisoning which had also coursed a huge lump that had to be removed. that was done 4 weeks ago but my main problem now is that is is completly refusing to eat anything. The vet has put him on a long course of antibiotics, anti - inflamaties and a steriod to help with his appatite but nothing is working, my vet doesn't seem to be worried but i am he has lost so much weight and is always asleep and doesn't have any get up and go this is very unual for him. Has anyone got any idea how to get him eating again.

Has Lucky been to see a specialist? If not, it might be time.

I would suggest you get a second opinion. The meds may need to be adjusted.

the vet who has been dealing with lucky is one of the best vets around i just feel that theirs something there not telling me. I have just collected him from the vets as he needed to have more blood tests liver fuction and another that looks at gut enzimes i will have the results back friday but for one of the blood tests he needed a full belly so they suringed food into him. which i hate the sound of he is very depressed and came out of the vets very unhappy surely this has made him feel worse.
