StaceyB September 30th, 2005, 07:10 PM When my husband is working evenings Montana and I walk to meet him. It is about 2 1/2 kms so he wears his back pack. He just picked up his back pack and brought it to me. This one is new but in the summer or when my husband is home he brings us our shoes and in the winter he brings us his coat. He doesn't bring his leash like many dogs do but he does bring many other things.
What kind of things does your dog bring you when they want to go out?
babyrocky1 September 30th, 2005, 07:28 PM His Kong and a great big grin!
Joey.E.CockersMommy September 30th, 2005, 07:28 PM My dog likes to carry his whale in his mouth, or his teddy and he usually drops it half way so I have to carry it for him. Really he isnt very responsible with his belongings. :D
StaceyB September 30th, 2005, 07:34 PM Montana doesn't bring his toys with him. He has been taught to spit them out before he goes out so it drops them at the door.
Joey.E.CockersMommy September 30th, 2005, 07:41 PM I should probably do that to, but he looks so cute with that whale in his mouth. One time he dropped it and almost peed on it, I got it just in time.
StaceyB September 30th, 2005, 07:46 PM It started because he would take them out back and leave them there.
Joey.E.CockersMommy September 30th, 2005, 07:49 PM He doesnt bring them all the time. Usually first thing in the morning because he sleeps with them in his kennel. He heads down the stairs with his whale in his mouth and we head out the door.
StaceyB September 30th, 2005, 08:01 PM That is very cute.
Prin September 30th, 2005, 08:07 PM My doggies don't bring me anything. They just spring to their feet every time I move (it gives me a minor heart attack each time).
Boo brings me his food bowl when he's really hungry though.
Beaglemom September 30th, 2005, 08:18 PM Misty brings us her leash when she wants to go for a walk. Kind of funny since she has many different leashes, one is a flexie lead and when she gets that one you usually hear a big thump and then she will plop it on our laps and try to take us for a walk!
When I grab my car keys and she wants to go for a car ride, she will grab her harness. She always wears her doggie seat belt in my car so she has to wear the harness.
The only time Misty brings us a toy is when she wants to play a game of tug of war. Outside she is way too preoccupied with all the different scents that are around her and what squirrel/bird she can chase next!
She used to carry around her food dish, this was really cute in the beginning, but got kind of annoying after a while since she wants to eat all the time. We used to get the plate dropped at our feet every few minutes, even when we were outside on the porch, so we bought one of those non tip dishes so she can't carry it all over the place.
Joey.E.CockersMommy October 1st, 2005, 07:34 AM When we first got Joey we stayed the first night at my parents in Vancouver.
We were getting ready to leave everything including Joeys crate was in the car. We were all outside including Joey saying our goodbyes. Joey decided it was time for us to go, he gathered all his belongings including his dishes, whale and Teddy and got in the crate all by himself.
StaceyB October 1st, 2005, 11:10 AM That must have been cute to see your brand new dog doing.
Lissa October 1st, 2005, 11:14 AM When Dodger is letting me know its time to go out, he'll bring me anything and everything. Most of the time, he goes for shock value and will bring stuff he's not suppose to have; he knows it makes me get up and take it from him.
But his best tool, is to show his "stress" by yawning - so now I have taught him to do it on command (its my favorite trick!). He looks so stressed when he yawns that I can't help but doing what he wants! :D
monman October 3rd, 2005, 11:37 AM one of my kittens carries a little stuffed toy sock in her mouth, brings it over to me and drops it for me to toss. then she bolts to go get it and brings it back again. she gets bored and distracted, though, after two or three times. :)
jessi76 October 3rd, 2005, 11:52 AM Tucker brings me anything and everything, that is within reach, however, it's when we come home, not when he wants to go out.
sjat24 October 3rd, 2005, 12:03 PM Well I only had Raven for 4 days and I am still not sure when she wants to go out. Do you guys teach your dog to get the leash? Even when I grab the leash she doesnt act excited, she just lay down and give me sad eyes????
StaceyB October 3rd, 2005, 12:05 PM Though tricks are great I would teach all the basics first. Are you enrolling your new puppy into classes?
Dogastrophe October 3rd, 2005, 12:22 PM Lucy doesn't bring us anything when she needs to go out, but, when we come home and let her out of her crate, she will immediately try to find a toy to show us. If not suitable toy is in the crate or just outside it, she will try to drag her pillow or blanket out.
Monty will generally always go on a search for his ball to show us. If there are ten tennis balls on the floor he will sort thru them until he finds his old one.
Jack (on some occassions) will go to the door and pull on his leash when he needs to go out.
