How to Introduce a new puppy

In 2 weeks I'll bring home a new Golden puppy. She will be 8 weeks old and I'm wondering what experiences others have had when introducing a new animal - I already have a 15-mo old Golden neutered male and 2 cats - both about 3 years old. Are there any special things I should do to encourage the dogs to be friends? I'm not at all worried about the cats - they accepted Bobby as an 8-week old puppy but I'd like to be as sure as I can about introducing the dogs in "the right way" if there is such a thing. Any and all suggestions and comments are appreciated!

What I always try to remember is that puppies can be pains in the butt to older dogs, even young one's like yours... so, I make sure that the pup doesn't constantly pester the whole house. When everyone has had enough, the pup goes for a break in the kennel. Normally the pup just crashes and has a big nap. The rest of the house gets a break then back to playing once a good nap is over.

Just make sure to watch the cats that they don't scratch the dog. My friend had that problem where the cat scratched the dog's eye ball and it cost $2,500 in vet bills (this is if your cats still have their claws).

I just got a new puppy a few weeks ago as well and things went really well. U just had to make sure that my older dog (10 months) didn’t get too rough. Now, the little one (9 weeks) chases the bigger one around the house. They are best of buds already
