Mozart bites now! what's this about?

Mozart started a new thing - last weekend at my parents place, my dad approached my mother and Mozart snapped at him twice. Ok Mozart is very protective but he's never done this before.

Last night, when we went to bed (Moe sleeps on my bed), i turned off the light and started to pet him. He bit me! what the heck was that about. I gave him a firm no and sent him to the floor where he spent 1/2 the night before joining me in my bed.

Why do dogs do this? Nothing is wrong with him health wise, he's been checked by the vet twice since he was sick and my flea situation - he's in perfect condition. What could this new behavior mean and what can I do to make him stop?

I would suggest not allowing him to sleep on your bed... that's showing him that he's king of the house. Start implementing NILF training with him... this needs to be nipped in the bud pretty quickly. Check this article out..

I agree with the NILF training.

It's pretty easy for a protective dog to slip over the boundry into a dangerous dog when he figures he needs to protect everything that is 'his'.

you just need to show him exactly where the boundries lie and that everything belongs to you, not him.

My boy friends dog did that the other day when he tried to get him off the bed he would not move and when he went to nudge him ot get off he growled at him,and suprisingly it was his boxer that does this,not his pit bull..
