Stuffed toys and the youngest

This is more a curiosity question, maybe good for a poll, but have no idea how to start one.

The reason I am posting is, since Delaney came to live with us, 6 years ago, Rudy has nothing to do with any stuffed toy. He used to love them.

I wonder if it is because Delaney took over all the toys, while she was a young pup. But now, Delaney is 6, Rudy is 9, and Delaney plays with those toys everyday?

Anyone else have an older dog change toy habits after a new one was adopted? Maybe he out-grew them? Rudy still loves bones but nevers plays with the stuffed ones like he used to.

Just curious,

Diane

dogs dont outgrow stuffed toys like kids, my 9yo GSD still looovvveeeessss her stuffed dollies and teddies, she is in love with them all. some of them she has had since a tiny pup, and she loves them still...

that little fella probably just took over the toys like you suggest, have you tried having seperate toys, i have a toy box for my girl and another for visiting dogs, perhaps you can start something like this, cause all doggies need a teddy if you ask me :D

Joey has stuffed whale and a Teddy Bear that he brings with him to bed every night, he takes his whale on his morning walks. He can actually lay on his back and pick up his stuffies between his two front paws and toss it up in the air and catch it in his mouth. It is pretty funny to watch.

melanie, good idea to try again to make some toys separate, but he doesn't seem interested.

stacey, no, he just looks at it and me like, Nah! lol

I am not really worried that he is missing out, just curious if anyone else noticed their dogs doing this.

Thanks all,
Diane

Forgot to mention earlier, along with bones Rudy loves the small plastic squeeky balls. He can catch like nothing I have seen before. I think he taught Laney how to do it, I sure don't know how to teach it. You can toss one really hard and straight at either one, and they will catch it. Neat trick. It still amazes me.
