Convincing someone not to breed pug--advice plzshannonRN September 9th, 2005, 12:53 AM :sorry: I'm deleting this post for personal reasons. Thank you for your help though. StaceyB September 9th, 2005, 07:05 AM I would gather up some information of the risks of breeding pugs, traits controlled through selective breeding, risk to the puppies, an article on BYB's and the problems that they cause. Maybe it would make them think twice. You could even have your husband pass them the information. Prin September 9th, 2005, 07:28 PM I would also find the closest doggy DNA lab in your area, and tell them that responsible breeders are having their dogs DNA tested for genes that are known to cause hereditary diseases. If they want to ensure the health of the pups that is the least they will do- test the parents. Here's one in Toronto, just to give you an idea of what they look like: Doggy DNA testing (http://www.healthgene.com/canine/) MIA September 10th, 2005, 01:12 PM Lots of info on www.nopuppymillscanada.ca |
