need to know

I'm really new to this puppy stuff and need to know how you can tell if a puppy has worms. He is going to the vet this week but I would like to know the symptoms.

Most vets will just de-worm a puppy routinely. He might have a destended abdomen, but you usualy only see the worms in the stool AFTER the treatment is administered.

any pics of the little fuzz bucket? :)

Go to your vet and get a sample container or use a ziplock bag. Take the sample in right away after you gather it and have it tested. If it shows up positive you can then get meds for it.

A couple of symptoms of worms:
Dog drags bum along ground by forepaws holding rear legs in the air
Dog eats and eats and eats and doesnt seem to gain any weight
Stool has visible worms in it (not always depends on type of worm)
You can take a flash light at night and shine it on the dogs bum when
sleeping and you may be able to see worms poking out
I deworm my dog once a month with Hartz Once-A-Month dewormer.
Never can be sure what dogs will eat

Take a stool sample to your vet, they can test for them. My last dog had worms really bad as a pup and other than a round tummy showed no signs, and puppies have round tummies anyways so it was hard to tell. I also get the heartworm pill that has a worm med in it and have never had problems with that dog or my new one.
