I definately see Lab.As for the Akita,I don't see it in him.

He could have both but the ears don't match, and his nose seems to be quite slender.

Actually,there is a difference between stalkieness and overweight.Stalky is fine...Overweight isn't..... That's why when you look at a breed standard,say the Akita,there is a standard weight for them.Same as a Lab.

The Akita is a stalky breed...Or should I say muscular. :D

Go to petfinder.com, look for Blub. He is Lab/ Rottie.
My Akita was the same build as in the pic posted, same as his mom. His dad wasn't so hefty.

Think about it this way: Stalky is like a bouncer- broad shoulders, big muscles. Over-weight is just too much fat.

If he's going to be a huge doggy, he might grow till at least a year and a half-- so you might have another 9 months of growing!! How much does he weigh now?

He could go up to 90 lbs, in my opinion, OR he could stay the same and just get taller and thinner. That's what happened to Boo. He was short and stalky and 75lbs when we got him, and became very very tall and skinny and 87lbs when he was done... You never know.
