Collar issues

Being that Odin is a bulldog, he has a thick neck and small head. He has wiggled out of his collar once before on me (thank goodness it was in the hallway near our apartment, or he could have bolted!). So, I always walk him with his harness.

What bother's me is my BF. He always walks him with collar only. I am so worried he is going to get out of it and run away. BF says he doesn't pull or anything when they walk, and doesn't try to get out of it, but I'm still worried it could happen. Tonight we gave him a mini bath, and he gets the zoomies after that, so I was surprised to see BF put just a collar on him.

Maybe it's just that I have trouble trusting people, because I can never trust anything to other people to do right, so I always do it myself. BF loves Odin to death, so I doubt he would be careless, but it still scares me. I sit at the window of our apartment watching them walk just in case some times!

Well you can accidently lose the collar, lol. You could also get a greyhound collar. The only problem with these collars is that they must be sized correctly making sure that when the two sides meet they are not to tighten any smaller than the dogs neck. When the collar is the right size it will appear to be quite loose. I usually don't recommend these because people tend to adjust them to the point that they are too tight when the leash is taught.

OMG as I was posting this, guess what? BF comes home (with Odin) and says he almost lost him because he got out of his collar!! He aparently ran across the street and to the door to our building thank goodness, and waiting there to be let in. Still scary though.

He's even got out of Martingale collars too. Because his neck is as thick as his head, he can practically get out of anything!! I will make sure BF uses harness from now on!
