Titan was teased

Well Titan has seen a behaviorist and she has come to some conclusions that he was teased, possible abused by a child. She still has more work to do with him but says that he may never be able to co-habitat with children in the house. He is very defensive when children are around. She is going to work with him for some time. I am so glad that he has a home.I am going to call the people we got him from and give them a piece of my mind, they are so lucky that I don't go there and ring their necks. How can people be so irresponsible..........

I am glad your at least figuring out why the bite happend. I am also glad you found Titan a home (especially one that you can still see him).

I would definatly call the people Titan came from although from the sound of it they weren't honest when they sold you the dog (sorry I am not even sure if you bought him) they will probably deny anything that the beharviourist said may have caused the problems. It makes you wonder if they knew the dog had problems with children why would they hand him over to someone else with a child without given any insight to the dogs past. I guess some people just take the easy way out.

I'm glad to hear it's worked out, and in Titan's favor so far. Many re-homed dogs have serious issues that were caused by unsupervised children. The blame falls squarely on the parents shoulders. They should never have a dog if they think it's alright for the kids to hurt it or torment it.
These dogs go to a new home... where the new owners have been told that the dog is 'wonderful with the kids' & 'never bitten even a fly!" LIES! and then the dog is put down for it's 'aggressive tendencies' UNFAIR!
I can only hope that the old saying "what comes around, goes around" will hold true. May their nights be restless and thier stomachs churn!! :fingerscr

Sending up my little prayer that Titan does well and finds himself in an understanding place...

Well I had a meeting with Titan's previous owners. They were not to shocked to see me. I went in person. First thing out of their mouth We should have told you about his problem. I looked at them and laid into them with both barrels.Needless to say their children did horrible horrible things to him. I can only be thankful he only did what he did. Titan has so much to be fearful of and now i can give the behavioruist all the ammo she needs to help him.Titan was beat with sticks, iron bars, teased with food, not fed for days becuase they just forgot. I just can't go on as I am so mad.Titan will remain with my brother and be loved in a safe home. My son must have made he so nervous that that was all he could do.Thay also have 2 new puppies and I am just wondering if I should call someone as these people are not responsible. Any suggestions on that. Heres to my Titan getting all the love he deserves.

Could you report them to the SPCA? You essentially have a confession from them. Can't you pass it along? Wouldn't the SPCA be able to ban them from having pets - at least as long as the children are living in the home? That's just so sad. Poor Titan! :(

That's what I am wondering. I do have a confession, but it's their word against mine. Although I do still have the paperwork from Titan with thier name on it. I just wish people would use there heads.I think I will report them. Those poor pups will end up being abused just like Titan.

OMG I"m so glad you got him out of there but they are so stupid to not have told you about this.

Owner surrenders always lie, almost always anyways because they want 'their' problem 'gone'

They actually told u they beat him with iron bars? or the kids did this?
Even for an idiot why would they admit this to you?

Do they have any other dogs ?

I'd say you have to at least try. There's your word AND the behavorist's word. Thank you for saving this guy and finding him an appropriate, loving home rather than just giving him away again. You and your brother have probably saved his life, because at some point, someone may not have cared as much as you and your family. Back to the pups, it wouldn't hurt to try and call the SPCA would it :grouphug: If these idiots knew how their kids treated Titan, why in the world would they get 2 more pups  Rhetorical question BECAUSE THEY'RE IRRESPONSIBLE IDIOTS

Isn't that the way it goes get rid of something that is causing you problems to what buy two more. If they couldn't train the first one and neglected it why on hell would they get two more. People like that need to be shot. I buy my dogs for life, if there is a problem fix it.

What was their reason for giving up Titan.

If it makes you feel any better my dog Chopper was teased and when I got him would eat kids if you let him! One year and LOTS of work he's great with kids now!!!! It took a long time, aging I think helped and some really good kids that built up his trust again. Would I trust him alone with a kid? NEVER but I wouldn't trust any kid with a dog... Thankfully I really don't need to worry about it as I don't have little humans.....

There is hope, but it will take time, patience training and love. :o

Their original reason was they said he ate their prize chickens.(we know why, he was starving) We bought it hook line and sinker. When I got there they were surprised but yes they confessed the whole thing. Saying that their oldest had anger issues. I guess hell have no furry like a mother scorned.I have put a call into the authorities(by-law and SPCA) and they will be contacting them tommorow. I will be all over this until I know the outcome.Titan now has a forever home and our other dog will have play dates. We only had him a short time but they bonded really well. She (Betsy) still looks for him in the yard when she is out.Hopefully these people will never own any animal again.

I sure hope he works through his issues. Good luck with your mission.

Yeah ....I did my best and the people that we got Titan from had all of there animals removed today.Pups, cats, chickens, cows all of them taken. These people will not be allowed to own any type of pet/animal for 3 years. I feel a little bad as some of there income was from the chickens, but I think that overall I did the right thing. The good guys win this time. But then I got to thinking that they could just buy a dog from a BYB. I will keep positive thoughts that these people have learned their lesson and will obey the law.
