Personalized Plates

I got thinking about license plates this morning (yes, again at the gym, and yes, again my thoughts went around to cheese cubes...don't ask) and personalized plates. I think it all stemmed from a conversation I had with Cheryl. I have personalized plates (she finds them pretentious), and she told me I would have to get rid of them when I became a cop, because they are a play on words with my last name. She said she didn't want someone with a beef coming after me, or even worse, her if she was driving with Gracie. I then told her that I was getting plates for her new car we're picking up tonight that say "COPS WIF". She didn't laugh. Anyway...

I personally like personalized plates as long as they are clever or funny. Just having them for the sake of having them isn't any fun. It got me thinking, what plates have you seen (and liked), or what have you come up with? Just for fun, post them here, and we'll see if we get them.

If I got a Jaguar, I'd get:
MEOW

I was going to supe up Cheryl's Civic, but still leave it plain looking. A fast car that doesn't look fast is known as a "sleeper", so I was going to get:
ZZZZZZ

For the hunter or the anti-PETA person
I 8 BAMBI

And, to be fair, for the PETA person or vegan
LUV RUFG

On a big station wagon I saw from the '60's:
LAN YOT

Optometrist
I DOC

When I was going build a really nice hot rod (or for an exotic sports car)
R U NVS

And a buddy from college had
DVS GUY

I love those. I like personalized plates that take effort to read but make sense.

Short of the like 248 bucks to get personalized plates I've been trying to come up with something I find amusing for my mustang.

What year? Is it a six or 8? If it's a six, you could go with:
LIL PONY

or

HOT 2 TRT (I'd think about that one, though)

I bought the Humane Society plate for my Volvo and it says "Dyrbil"which means costly car in Swedish, you should see people behind me trying to figure it out :D
On the Jeep we were boring and it simple says SWE-FRA,for Sweden(me)and France(hubby).
I love riddles and love to try to figure out peoples plates...yeah,I know I should get a life

sorry mate but i totally agree with cheryl, their tacky and pretensious :D

and oh so expensive here, it costs a motza to get em over here, and because so many ppl have them its hard to choose a decent one that has not already gone, andi think it is weird to put your name on your car, i bet yu ahve your name on the inside of all your underpants too :D

a friend of mine was an events coordinator, her company was called ENVY events. anyway she had envy on her plates, it was embarassing as she had a hot car and most ppl thought she meant envy her for the car instead of the business name.....

but if you want to be a total dag, go ahead :o

I once did a seminar where I started by getting the people guess the message or occupations of various vanity plates - like RevMs - that kind if thing tho these were more cryptic. My bf once threatened to get me plates that read KID DOC but I told him NO!!!! But I like your thinking Schwinn, lol Love the anti peta one and the meow!!

The plates where I live have your county number before the plate number and I live in county number 4 so there are alot of 4-PLAY; 4-FUN, etc. I do remember that they outlawed the 4-PLAY one cuz they said it was obscene. It was funny because we used to have different plates for trucks vs cars, so you could have the same vanity plate on your truck as your car. I saw the 4-PLAY on a truck for a long time - it was only after it showed up on a corvette that they decided it was porn! hehehe. It's tough here because you are only allowed 4 big letters/numbers or 3 big ones and 2 small ones on top of each other. It's not like California where you could put "BITEMEPPL" on your plate! :D

I wouldn't pay the extra money for one although I do enjoy trying to figure out what they say when I see them. The number I have is a reserved number that actually belonged to my hubby's grandfather and has been in the family for more than 60 years. Whenever we change plate styles I have to make sure I go in on time to get my new plates, otherwise they'll give my number away.

Some cuter ones I have heard of are EVENT under a Maine licence plate, FAMFIXR for a psychologist, MYSNCAN from someone who recalls his hs chemistry, lol, 1000101 for someone who put his names in binary numbers, (I think it was his age, lol) , DOC4JOX, LITIG8 (hmmm, should I get that one for my bf, lol?), XY RN by someone advertising his profession and gender, and I SD8EM (an anthesiologist, lol)

I know the person who has L33T on an Ontario liscence plate. Lots of geeky people were pissed off that the plate was taken apparently, lol.

Well, if it makes a difference, they were bought for me as a gift. They were the plates I'd wanted since I was 12, and I got them for Christmas when I was 17 or 18...wait...maybe 19...or 20. Anyway, when I was younger. As I said, they're a play on my last name. When I'm in traffic, I'll sometimes notice people pointing them out to the passenger and grinning, so that's cool. I don't like the ones that are just a name or aren't really very clever myself. And the worst one I saw was someone put "Tempo" on thier Ford Tempo. Okay, first of all, the other four logos wasn't enough? Secondly, it's a TEMPO!! Now you'll have to keep driving it because your plate won't make any sense on another car!!

Anyway...

A 24-year old four banger, huh, MafiaPrincess? How about--

OLD MARE

or

TRD HORS

Schwinn no wonder your wife doesn't want WIF of her licence plate I believe it is a slang word for a womans private parts in England. LMAO My sister has SUS- MOO on hers, her name is Sue and she has black angus cattle. I heard that they are costly now I think my sisters only paid over $100 for hers.

I have a sort of funny one that I saw. my SO and I were driving and saw a car with licensens plates that said I DIOS, which if you spell the I as aye (aye is pronounced I) means oh god in spanish. well we were talking and my SO didn't realize how fast he was driving and this car was going a bit faster than us. Well out of nowhere a cop comes flying out with his lights on. We thought for sure he was going to pull us over, but instead he pulled over the I DIOS car. And we were joking that the person in the car was probably sitting there going " aye dios".

I drive a Toyota MR2. I was too tight-fisted to pay for a personalized plate but my license plate frame says "IMA MR 2". Most people think it refers to the car!

LOL!! You're sooo mean!! I do agree with Cheryl though about changing your plates! Ya just never know in this day and age!

I've thought about getting personalized plates. I just can't decide(or never will) on what I'd get! I've thought about:
EXCUSE ME - for passing people
HURRY UP - for passing people
SLOW DWN - for tailgaters
IN A RUSH - because I'm always late!

OR something about Pit Bulls  because they are ALWAYS with me! It's not often I drive alone!

On a BMW driven by a good looking blond >HISMONEY
On another high end European car driven by yet another woman > AILIMONY
On a huge Chevy truck I recognized a fellow Simpson's fan > CANYNARO

I considered TARDIS for my little Echo because it is so big inside (you have to be a Dr. Who fan to understand) but when I checked out the cost I thought again.

I never understood those personalized plates. Come on people!!

Officer: "Who hit the pedestrian and took off?"
Witness: "The licence plate was 'J'" (I have actually seen one where it was JUST "J" and that was it! (I think when you get a personalized plate, it doesn't have to have a certain number of letters and numbers.)

I'd rather this:
Officer: "Who hit the pedestrian and took off?"
Witness: "I think the licence plate was 783 RTO, or was it RIO? RIQ maybe? Maybe the 8 was a B... Maybe I didn't even see a car at all!"

Muuuuch better.

Mel our Aussie friend,I see tacky every day :D and i do not consider my license-plate tacky,it's a sign of"love"for my car :D
I take better care of it than my house..my car is my sanctuary,I can play my "Il Divo"CD as loud as I want, naturally I want to adorn it :D
I paid a little extra to have the Humane Society logo on the plate and they probably got $1 out of it!!
I can just hear what your answer will be"Why did you not give that money directly to the HS?" and I do,every month and have for years.

I believe we all need a little indulgence at times,"my"plate was one of those times
