Please HELP!!

I've had my dog Nemo for about a month now.....we got him from a lady who wanted to get rid of him cause she couldn't take care of him anymore. About a week after we got him, he started gnawing around his "pee pee" area, and whinning. He does this EVERYDAY. I asked the vet about it, and she said it could be a "psychological problem", but I know that's not what it is...cause he acts like he's in pain when he's doing this. Does anyone know what is going on? Or had any similar problems with their dogs. He'll be 2 in december, and he's been fixed.....
thanks a lot!!! :) :pawprint:

Hi and welcome!

It could be a few things that are bothering him. It could be due to stress. A change such as a new home and family is very stressful for an animal. Some do start biting themselves and some resort to self mutilation. It could also be due to boredom.

When does he do this? Is there a specific time like after he goes to pee? If he only does it after he goes to the bathroom it could be an infection. Has an infection been ruled out?

Is there a rash? If so, he could have allergies.
