Hi, I just joined this site, in hopes of helping my dog. She is a nine year-old mixture of something or another. The vet thinks Jack Russell terrier. Anyway, she recently got a foxtail weed in her ear and had to have surgery to remove it. She has been on pain pills and antibiotics and ointment for her ears since last Wed. Two days ago she started whining. I hold her to comfort her and discovered her mammary glands are swollen. She may not have been spayed or ever had puppies. She has not been with a male dog. Yesterday she was actually lactating. Is there any reason for this. She is not in heat and rarely goes into heat. Please help a very sweet doggie who is engorged and suffering. I just spent $600 dollars at the vet and don't have any more but thought I would try here first before running up more expenses.

Is there any time in the last couple of months she has been around a male. If not she really needs to go to the vet.
