The cucumber eating dogs

If it weren't happening to me...I doubt I would believe it. Zachary and Dusty LOVE cucumbers...especially the peelings  I've just harvested my very own cucumbers for the first time. Dusty and Zachary act as though I have filet mignon.... They both DANCE to get cucumber peelings. They can't get enough of them. Although, I don't over do it with them...since I'm not really sure what the sudden influx of green roughage might do to their 'innards'.
After leaving a small piece of cucumber at the back of the counter, I could hear the 'thumpity, thump' of little paws.... Dusty, bless his bouncing soul  was trying desperately to get the leftovers. When I arrived back in the kitchen, he was sitting very quietly, at the counter (he was not successful in his attempt..thankfully) looking at me with 'sorrowful' eyes - my Dad's term for BEGGING!! This could be interesting.....I've never had a 'counter surfer' but this little beggar can JUMP!!
Anyway, that's my funny story for the day :)

One of my guys goes balistic for carrots. She likes the peels too. She's also figured out they grow in the garden and has raided the vegetable patch twice in the last week.Amazing what a determined cairn can do!

Mine also love cucumbers but prefer carrots. They love most veggies.

my girl reacts to veggies like most dogs to cheese and other delicacies. She actually recognizes the distinct sounds of a knife slicing cucumbers, and the "broccoli bag" opening and comes running! :p

LOL that is so funny!! My doggies are of the "typical" category of dog- they come when I open meat or cheese, but that's about it.. :D

Kenzie's favorite is raw Green Beans doesn't like them cooked! She prefers them to her dog food now! It's funny hearing her crunch them, like we crunch potatoe chips lol

Actually Joey devoured a carrot like it was a steak, my son dropped a banana on the floor and he devoured it in about ten seconds, he didn't poop for a whole day so I was a bit worried. I gave a small piece of peach hoping it might move the banana through his system, he ate that too no problem. He finally pooped about 1/2 hour ago. I have started to do some research on feeding dogs fresh veggies and other meats, I figured if he seems open to it I might as well learn about it for his sake. I read somewhere on the internet about a company making fruit flavoured doggie popsicles, this includes bananas so they can't be that bad I hope! I will keep them out of his reach for the time been.
