My cat doesn't seem to like me

My cat is awesome and she loves people, she will jump up on everyone and just purr. I am used to my animals following me around and being really connected with them. I don't feel like this with my cat, is it because i'm used to how dogs are, or is it possible to have the similar type of relationship with a cat as a dog. She doesn't run from me, but I just wanted some ideas of how to connect better and become closer to her. Oh by the way, thanx everyone for all the advice you have all given!

Cats are different from dogs and they themselves would tell you I'm sure. And some cat breeds - like my Siamese and Sphynx are more people oriented and need to be their people. I am sure she likes you - but she would not think of it that way. Have you played some typical kitty games with her - mouse catching, feather chasing, that kind of thing. Cats love the chase and hide.

My YY will hide somewhere and meow for me and the sphynx to play with her - she has invented her own version of hide and seek, lol

You might try that with your kitty. Hide from her and call her and let her find you.

From my experience..........male cats are much more affectionate than females! Females only want attention when they want it - not when you want to give it to them!!

Try spoiling her with canned cat food once in a while?? Play time?

Do you try to hard with your cat?? When I was a little girl, i mauled my animals because i loved them sooooooo much. They didn't like me in return! So i did learn to give them their space! LOL
