What's your favorite phrase or motto?

Vas

I have two favorite phrases. I don't know who said the first one, but the second one is said by Dr. Phil.

1. Always remember that you're very unique, just like everybody else.

And one of my favorite life mottos would be:
2. To make people feel better about themselves after being around me.

What's your favorite phrase?

I like the quote by Edmund Burke - the British parliamentarian and political hilosopher - that evil flourishes when good people do nothing. He actually said men but I updated it. <g>

I like the French one my man taught me- it's fun to say too. "Tu ne peut pas avoir le beurre et l'argent du beurre." (Sort of like you can't have your cake and eat it too- You can't have the butter and the money for the butter...)

I like this quote from Jim Morrison:
Some of the worst mistakes of my life have been haircuts.

And this one from Einstein, because I disagree with all the multitasking going on...
Any man who can drive safely while kissing a pretty girl is simply not giving the kiss the attention it deserves.

As for my own, I don't really have one. Except maybe the dog one, about being as good a person as my dog believes me to be.

I've always liked carpe diem. My personal one is

"One should always look ahead instead of back, for he who looks back instead of ahead is sure to step in something"

I also had

"Work hard, play harder"

but I think I saw that on a poster a few years ago. I knew I should have copywrote it!

Vasa vana plurimum sonant...

Translated loosely from the Latin it means "Empty pots make the most noise".
I repeat this one to myself when I feel like I'm not being heard... you know such as when I'm irritated with some public opinion survey that comes up with a sweeping generalization that I really don't agree with...

OR sometimes when I'm reminding myself to shut the heck up cause I have nothing to contribute. :p

ok i have millions, you dont grow up in a country like this and not hear a million stupid or really funny ones, heres a few-

'when your in it up to your neck, its best to keep your mouth shut'

'i hope your chickens turn into emus and kick your dunny door down'

if someone is a bit simple or jsut dumb thier said to
'have a few roos missin in the top paddock, or their a few beers short of a six pack'

whenever we make a toast in our house it is followed by a chorus of 'up ya bum'

and if your runnign around crazy and busy your said to be
'runnin around like a blue arsed fly' :D (i am often called that one).

and they go on and on and on, its like a stupidity competetion some days....

oh and a serious one

'if you educate a man you educate and individual, if you educate a woman you educate a family' :D :highfive:

I live by this personal motto:

If you are going to regret doing it, don't do it.
If you are going to regret not doing it, then do it.

I'm horrible at making decisions, so this little motto helps a LOT!

One of my mom's:

Always act like I'm right behind you. (very scary thought as a teenager)

Mine:

Hang up and drive!!!!

I really like that quote, its great!

Some of my favourites are:

"The key to happiness is having dreams. The key to success is making your dreams come true."

"Beginnings are usually hard, endings are usually sad but its the middle that counts the most"

and the one's that go sort of like this:

"The ways in which people treat animals will be reflected in how people relate to one another"

I also like saying "stone the crows!" thanks to my british family!

I don't have any inspirational ones but the one I use the most is probably "Bite Me!", although I do like "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

My least favorite is probably "Get er done" although I do like Larry the cable guy.

o.k. got a few really different ones... ;)
some from Maya Angelou

There is nothing so pitiful as a young cynic because he has gone from knowing nothing to believing nothing.

• The main thing in one's own private world is to try to laugh as much as you cry.

• If you find it in your heart to care for somebody else, you will have succeeded

"24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case...COINCIDENCE??? I think not."

(o.k. that last one was Stephen Wright)
ha ha just checking to see who's paying attention!!

What??

These are good! And funny too! :thumbs up

Well, two favourite sayings that do me good to be reminded of:

"Better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt".

"If you speak out against nothing, you'll stand for anything"

I guess one that I use a lot.... "in the grand scheme of things, will this REALLY matter tomorrow".. usually used when someone is focusing on something trivial.

I also like "When you're up to your a** in alligators, it's hard to remember your first priority is to drain the swamp." :)

and one that I lived by during some really bad times... When Life hands you lemons, you have two choices, be sour, or make lemonade" BTW, I chose lemonade :D

I really like my signature line....because courage comes in all forms...sometimes taking that first step into a new venture...
