Yesterday my friend told me about this place called a dog-o-mat. Basically, it's a place where they have tubs and towels for you to bathe your dog. It totally cracks me up. Has anyone ever heard of this? You need to check it out- http://www.dog-o-mat.com . While my puppy is tiny and can be cleaned in a sink, I suppose it would be good for people with large dogs who have a hard time bathing dogs in their bathtubs. I really think I'm going to need to go anyways just to check it out.

I'm thinking, if for no other reason, at least it would keep the fur from clogging up the tub and I wouldn't have to be the one to pull it all back out of the drain again! :yuck:

I think it's a great idea. Take the dog in, have all the available equipment there and your bathroom doesn't end up being covered in wet dog fur! I would definitely use one if they had such a thing here. Hmmmm, maybe that's a possible business venture in the making. :thumbs up

I think it's a great idea. Not only does it keep the fur out of your drain as Writing4fun said, but I believe the tubs are higher, so you can save your back and knees, and it helps you avoid scenes like this::(

Lol LR, Chloe looks adorable! She might mind that outfit at a public bath though.

I love the idea of a dog o mat for the hair factor also. Have not had the chance to go to one yet, but it is on my list for this winter. In the summer dog washing is an outside thing. Just this week though I saw a thing on the news about a dog washing machine. I think they were launching it in Germany or something like that. It was horrible!! It's just a giant washing machine that the dog stands in and you close the glass door on the dog and the machine turns on like a car wash and sprays and soaps them, rinses and blow dries. I can't imagine a dog enjoying that. The dogs they showed stood still in it, but none of them looked happy - I would NEVER use one of those.

I have heard of these before but none to my knowledge are in our area. Not only are we lacking in a good dog food supply store on the south shore but also a dog wash. hmmmmm :D

One opened in Toronto years ago - combo groomer, do it yourself grooming and pet store. I think now most people just leave their dogs and ask the groomer to take care of it. I think it helped develop the grooming business since self or professional grooming were both available and depending on the size of your dog should the professional option be available as you were fighting to keep your dog in the tub, it would look very attractive. A strictly dog-o-mat would remove this enticement.

LR, that's too cute! She looks adorable!

We had one of those "self serve pet wash" open up next door to our vet clinic. I've never used one since my beagle is easy to wash at home in a tub. I guess it would be a good idea for someone with a large dog. Also, it is great in that all the supplies are there and your bathroom and towels are saved from getting wet and dirty!

Oh yeah, the one that opened by our vet, didn't last long. It closed up not that long ago. I never saw anyone use it. I guess they are just not that popular.
