This has been circulating around the various sites. I didn't see it here so I thought I would post it. Did anyone else know that something like this is possible?

"Was your cat vaccinated against FIV at any time in his life? What many pet owners( and sadly, most shelters ) don't realize is that if a cat is vaccinated against FIV they will test positive for the rest of their lives even though they don't have the disease. Although there is a benefit to the vaccination, there is also a downside because if these cats ever end up in a shelter and test positive for FIV they are automatically euthanized. Yes, that's correct and the reason why most vets don't like to vaccinate for it.

We don't test for it, unless the cat is a beaten up tomcat who is sick at the time he is taken in.
