I came across this page while surfing the net. I have never seen this before, and was just wondering if anyone else has? My husband and I got kind of a chuckle out of it. I wonder if the cat would just bite them off?

The best thing is to train your kitty - this is a very anti declawing site - and while some have used Soft Paws and they are popular among some cat people, for many, they come off too soon or get in the way.

I LOVE my softpaws...sure they do fall off but for the most part they stay on pretty good...Blazes usually last at least two weeks...they took some getting use to for him but now he doesnt even mind when I put them on!

my vet used to recommend these, not anymore. He had alot of reports of cats that could no longer retract their claws. Since they are put on when the claw is out, it restricts the natural retraction, and if used on kittens, they learn to NOT retract their claws.

"Softpaws" are a brand name, but there are others on the market. They come in a lot of sizes, and the claws can still be retracted if you are using the right size. My friend and I put them on our cats together (we've found it's a two person job). It's very important that their nails are clipped before putting them on. I was very skeptical at first, but it was her vet who suggested them as a declawing alternative. We both love them and they do stay on for 6 to 8 weeks if used properly. Like "declawing", however -- NEVER use them if the cat goes outdoors.
