My 15 month old golden retriever has been diagnosed with a respiratory infection. He has not eaten for 10 days... he is drinking water. My concern is that he is not eating and is still having trouble breathing. any suggestions? should I get a second opinion?

What treatment is the dog on?
Not eating for 10 days is a LONG time. Have you recontacted the vet?
Try feeding him soft and wet foods. His airway could be constricted and dry so NO dry dog food or biscuits.
Boil some chicken and keep it wet, cut it in very small cubes and feed him from your hand one by one making sure they are moist.
If he's on antibiotics feed him yogurt every day, its good for him and will help fight infection. 2 tablespoons a day for a dog that size even a little more.
If he seems to be having trouble swallowing buy some baby food and let him lick the baby food from a spoon or saucer a little at a time.
Can also try giving him ice cubes to cool any inflamations in the throat.
I would def let the vet check the airway again.
