Lice are animal specific.. Your new cat may spread it to the one you already had, but they won't thrive on you.
I suggest trying to keep them seperated, like keeping the older kitty confined t oa bedroom, with food, water, litterbox, bed.. and the other kitty in the livingroom, in a confined space or something until you can contact your vet, or someone here has a better answer.
You are probably going to have to wash some of your stuff after this to get rid of a possible infestation.. Lice should die when off the host, so if you can wait it out you should be able to kill one not on your pets.

I would use a washcloth or rag or something to gentle wash her down. If you see any eggs on her, remove them.
And see if the Vet can help.

I believe that most flea powders are mild enough to use on kittens under twelve weeks. Is there a pet food/accessory store that you can go to like a Petsmart or something today?

Ok so I'm in the same situation here...found the abandon kitten I'd say it's about 8 weeks old and it has lice. I used revolution about 18 hours ago and there still alive on the cat... how long does it take to work or is there anything else I can put on the kitten. What did you find out??? Any help would be greatly appreciated.[/I]

Hi there! sorry I dont know alot about lice but if you do a search here on the site for lice you will see some past discussions...some say that revolution does not work for lice..shes pretty yound so you have to be very careful...have you called a vet at all? sometimes they can offer some type of product....or maybe its not lice and something else like mites??
Good Luck and let us know how you make out!

little guy, this thread is from 2005. Winston is right, please at least CALL a vet for advice. Do not put any more chemicals on the kitten.

A couple of feral kittens we wrangled had lice, the vet used revolution and they stayed there for about a week... not sure if that's how long it takes or if that was them trying to socialize them. Always a good idea to take a new pet to the vets right away. :goodvibes:

I agree and since the kitten is only 8 weeks old it needs to be checked by the vet anyway. Good luck and keep us posted. :fingerscr :goodvibes:
