Sticky in Lost and Found

June 21st, 2005, 12:03 AM
I was wondering if anyone else would think it would be a good idea to have a sticky in lost and found that gives suggestions and links as to where to advertise a lost/found pet. Yes they can do so here, but as all of us know the more the news is spread the better the chance at getting that pet homeward bound.

I have several links and often I criss cross looking from one to the other to see if I can match up any of the lost furries with folks that have found one.

Would/could it be possible to have folks suggest links to place on a sticky?

Thanks for the thoughts

Good idea, Luba. This is from an old thread and it's mainly for Montreal, and only mentions dogs. Anyone feel like expanding/editing it?

Also, if people were advised to put the name of the general area where the dog or cat has been lost into their message (Marko also asked that it be in the title line), it would be easier for others to search.

What you can do...

Distribute "Lost Dog" flyers, with a recent picture, in your neighbourhood: poles, alleys, veterinary clinics, convenience stores, grocery stores, pet shops, internet sites, newspaper ads…

Contact the Berger Blanc, SPCA, or any other animal rescue organization in your area. Call/email them & go there in person every day. Fill out lost reports & leave the flyer (picture).

Go out to look for your dog early in the morning/dawn (when it's quiet out), with a box of its favourite treats. Make sure to bring a leash & collar.

Here are some sites I use regularly. My browser isn't allowing me to put some of the others up to ensure they're working so I need to figure out whats wrong with my browser/isp before I post more.

ALL of these sites are wonderful if you have LOST or FOUND a pet!

All someone would have to do is make a detailed statement and then cut and past into the database of each website, and include a picture or a link to a picture :D *this is INTERNATIONAL Mostly Canada Mostly Ontario Canada

Maybe I am a bit slow at times, but what is a "sticky"?

A permanent post that stays at the top of each topic catagory...take a look at some of the topics you'll see 'sticky' :D meaning it's always there.

Thanks, I get it, and I have seen them but didn't know what it meant.

YES thank you Marko :D

Every little bit helps. It's amazing how many there are lost/stolen pets!

Maybe we'll be able to even get some fantastic reunited stories as we have in past days.

Thx again !!!
(and for mentioning me...shux darn you didn't have to)

I LOVE that idea - reunited stories.

I may put it out to the members to see if they would be interested in a reunited subforum within the lost and found forum.

What do you think? and since you are aware of a few reunited threads at this moment, Luba, can I ask that you bookmark or keep track of them for me?

I think a sticky with those sites (and the various pet detective ones we all use and prefer) would be a great idea. I would especially like to see an faq added to the sticky and would gladly help in the creation of the afoirementioned. (Sticking - no pun intended - to my dictim that if you suggest an idea, be prepared to do some work on it, :) )

Good thinking Luba!
