Finally, a sunny day around southern Alberta . . . . although more rain and potential flooding again coming for the weekend.

Keeper relaxes in the early evening last night at our home . . . .

We were out for a drive earlier in the afternoon and caught a pastoral scene near our home . . .

At least its green . . . . we often get burned out in the summer!!

Thank you for your comments.

Yes, its nice here. Different though with few lakes, beaches, etc . . . pretty dry, most of the time.

Keeper is at about 4,500 feet above sea level in that picture.

In answer to goldengirls:

Believe it or not, there is a Wal-Mart and McDonalds and Canadian Tire only an eight minute drive from our house where Keeper is laying. We live west of the town.

Calgary, a city of 1 million, is just over the hill behind us, a drive of about 20 minutes on the highway to my office in the south end of the city.

You can see the office towers of Calgary from where that cow picture was taken, only looking over the other shoulder.

Abby rushes through the tall grass in the ditch along the gravel road leading to our home.

Rick you gotta love that Big Sky, and who wouldn't. We have property south of you in Montana. The pic of the Cattle is stunning, I love that scene and that's why we love Montana. You are indeed fortunate to live in those surroundings. It is ideal Dog country. When you see Dogs tethered it breaks my heart. Pictures like that of your Abby shows a wonderful place for pets and people, how fortunate it is for you, Abby and Polly. When I saw the pic of Polly in front of the window, my first thought beyond Polly was, wow, that looks like Montana.

I've been to Montana a few times and love the "Going To The Sun Road" in Glacier. I rode my bicycle down through BC and Idaho then to Montana, through Missoula, Helena and Great Falls then back to Alberta . . . . about a quarter century ago.

Lots of similarities. Well, except for the oil and gas we got!!

Keeper watches the valley and mountains beyond:

But its flooding badly here right now. The destruction of the Millarville Market southwest of Calgary as it appeared a few hours ago when I was driving by.

Children watch the flooding in the town of Okotoks, Alberta yesterday morning. This is an eight minute drive from our house.

And a local playground remains standing in spite of the raging water . . .

Amazing pics Rick. Thankfully we don't have the potential for that sort of disaster, it would wash us into the Atlantic. As for Oil and Gas, Suncor is drilling about 10 miles from our property. We are hoping that they do well.

Calgary declared its first ever state of emergency last night. About 2,500 people evacuated in the city.

Water south of the city seems to have crested.

And its a nice day here today. Polly, Abby and me hang out in the shade of a lilac about an hour ago.
