Anyone know if there is a way to teach your pet rabbit not to claw you to death? Or a position it is best to hold him in? I have an angora, Daisy, who I've had about a year. At first he was so gentle with being picked up (I harness him up and take him out back in the summer) but in the last 6 months he's gotten VERY scratchy, mostly when it's time to come in. I'm not sure what to do, I've tried carrying him in different positions but he goes nuts when it's time to come in, no matter what.

Most rabbits do not enjoy being picked up.Make sure you support all of him,I sort of cradle my guys so thier back feet are on my arm.Neutering males is also really important since once they reach sexual maturity they can become more agressive,Trimming nails and long sleeves also help.

I'v owned a few scratchy rabbits. The only way I found that holding them worked was to put one arm under its front feet and its butt up against your chest and hold the back feet together with your other hand and also use that arm to support its butt. I hope you can understand that. I'm really back at trying to explain things like that.

That normally works pretty well because they mainly scratch with their back feet. But if yours is a front foot scratcher that might not help.

Really the only other option is gloves that cover your forearms. I had one really nasty red velvet lop that you had to use gloves to pick up. Was fine being petted but wanted nothing to do with being picked up. The only reason we ever really picked her up was to clean her cage.

lol Jackie you had me laughing trying to picture that.

GLoves! You're a genius, why didn't I think of that?

Hmmm..I never thought about getting him neutered but maybe that would settle him down a bit...
I think he gets a little twitterpated outdoors (have you seen Bambi?) He runs and does flips in the air...all that white fluffy fur he's so cute
