Neapolitan Mastiffs!

I personally like this breed. I'd get one, but they're huge. VERY huge. Gentle giants though. They were bred to scare away enemies...by looks. They are so ugly they're cute. The way they stare at you is really hard to explain- it's like they are reading your mind or something.

If you're planning on buying one, make sure you have a LOT of towels because they drool a lot, you are very strong (they are lazy- usually you have to drag them around, but sometimes they drag you around) and you also need to make sure nothing gets stuck in their wrinkles. NOT for an inexperienced dog owner.

Not many people know about these dogs. They are active and friendly but they only live like 8-10 years. :(

Actually, a lot of people know about Neo Mastiffs. All the ones I have met are definitely not lazy and some barely drool at all. They are fantastic dogs but require an experienced handler as they will guard and protect their loved ones. They can be very goofy and clumsy when young so are not suitable around small children as someone forgot to mention to them their large size. They are bright, intelligent and lovely dogs to own when training and socialisation has been consistent.

my vet actually has a champion neo mastiff! we were talking about them today, as my mother fell in love with the one on Westminster

They CAN drool alot, it depends on the amount of wrinkles around the mouth, basically.
