There's a 5 m/o male lab mix in the park that always likes to play rough 'n tough with other dogs. He bites the ears, neck and lips, and if he manages to pin the other dog on its back, he presses his front paw against its neck.
Now, my dog is a 9 m/o male ECS mix who is quite dominant with adult males. If one puts his paw on his back, or starts posturing, my guy becomes very angry.
With this puppy on the other hand, he is extremely tolerant. He lets him bite to the point of yelping, without retaliation. But some times, if this goes too far, he feels he's had enough and starts growling and being dominant.
This lab puppy is the only dog which likes to play this way. My dog prefers to run and play chase, but the puppy sneaks up on him and so he can't avoid the wrestle.
My question is, could this rough 'n tough type of play be making my dog's dominance issue worse? Should I not let the two of them play together?
