Hi I posted about my 8 yr old Brittany Jax before.
He is doing pretty good now that his treatment is in full swing.
I guess I hoped someone out there would know what would cause a healthy dog to suddenly develop Zinc Responsive Dermatitis? It is genetic in northern breeds yes, but he isn't a husky, he's a Brittany! But why would he get this after a surgery? A week after a surgery? He is playful again now and in great spirits. Acts just like my Jax. Looks a bit funky still but is getting better by the day on the Zinc he takes daily now. And amino acids, eggs and fatty acids. Antirobe antibiotics also and a weekly bath in his special shampoo. He is regrowing hair slowly in most of his bald spots too. The information on the web is so limited. I have searched every site that is possible and not one gives a reason why a dog would stop absorbing zinc in midlife. Anyone know anything???
