Near death!!!

May 25th, 2005, 10:10 PM
10 month old male active outdoor cat, spaded about 2 weeks ago appears near death. The 'third eyelid' is covering about a 1/3 of his eyes. In another thread, Dr. Van Lienden describes this 'third eyelid' as "corneal opacity or edema" a clear or more like white covering of the lower part of his eyes. Within 2 days he has gone from active to lethargic and withdrawn hiding and staying indoors. When prompted he will walk very slowly. He does not react if I gently squeeze parts of his body. Appetite has become poor. Another web site indicated that cats can get 'Toxoplasmosis'. That's got me worried that my kids might get it (they're responsible for cleaning the kitty litter). His sister is doing well. The Vet is not an option ($). I'm willing to buy something off the shelf.
Scrappy thanks you in advance.

If you are looking for advice from the visiting vet - they are only here occasionally.

No one is qualified to diagnose and offer medical advice over the internet.

If this was your child - I am sure it would already be at the doctor. I suggest you take you cat.
