heeler's rock!

Poor Nova! This morning as I was getting ready, I heard a scuffle on top of my kitchen cupboards. I thought maybe Jacob or Elliot were bugging Nova as they always do, so I went to shoo them off. But they weren't there, just Nova, and she was jumping all over the place pawing at her face. Clumps of hair were just everywhere, so I climbed up on to the counter to see her, and she got her collar stuck on her lower jaw in her mouth, and it was preventing her from closing her mouth completely! She was so scared that she was scratching me to get me away from her, but I held her steady and undid it so it could come off. Then she looked at me with her pretty eyes and meowed as if to say thank you. I was so scared for her! If no one was home, she could have broken her jaw or fallen off the cupboards from fighting so much! She's already quite clumsy and falls off of the fridge all the time because she fails to pay attention to how much room she has left. :p

Anyways, I was so scared for her, and I'm just glad she's okay. Has anyone else's pets gotten themselves into a predicament they can't get themselves out of?

My cat Boowee did the same thing when he was younger, he actually scratched his face and mouth open trying to get the collar out of his mouth, And I had such a hard time getting him, because he was terrified.
I felt so sorry for him, I was crying after I got the collar off, to the damage he did to himself out of fear. Since then I have NEVER put collars on any of my cats! I only put one on my old boy Lucky, when I take him for a walk in the garden (he is leash trained). I take the collar off as soon as he comes in.

Before i got Blaze a break away collar this happened all the time...I finally took it off and called the yet and asked him what i could do...he told me to get a break away collar so if it did happen it would just come undone. The first time this happened Blaze was making a awful noise and then he jumped up on the and I freaked out he looked so scared! It hasnt happened since i got him his new collar but I feel safe knowing he could get out of it if he needed to.

my sugar has, shes my chubby white cat.

I ahve a screen door where the glass can be opened a bit for air, and we dont ahve a screen in it.

well one day I opened it but just a bit because the kids had been trying to toss toys onto the balcony, and I was trying to avoid cleaining up a tonne of toys.

well i went to the washroom and came back and sugar was meowing so loudly and all i saw was her butt hanging out of the doorway.

she tried to squirm thru and got stuck LOL

i freed her and checked her over and she seemed alright, albeit a bit ticked off.

from now on she waits till i actually open the door for her to go lounge on the balcony.
