A London police officer shot and wounded a pit bull that attacked him while he was visiting a Langarth Street home yesterday in search of a wanted person. Police said the officer was at the door of the home when the dog charged from the backyard, which was not fenced. The officer fired two shots from his pistol at close range, hitting the dog once in the leg. The other bullet went into the ground. The dog was taken to a veterinarian and is expected to recover. The dog was attached to a cable long enough to allow it to reach the officer, police said.

You have to wonder if this would've made the news at all if it hadn't been a pit? Another blow for the breed. Of course, it probably wasn't mentioned that the 'wanted person' had most likely trained the dog to behave that way.
