Need help with Golden on walks

I am not sure whether this belongs under Training or not, but here goes. Montana is my almost 9 month Golden. She walks pretty well with her Gentle Leader, BUT she will decide she is not going to move and either flops down, or sits and just will NOT budge. While this first started when the snow was here and she loved to burrow in the snow, I thought she was just being playful, but since there is no longer snow and she is doing much the same thing, how do I get her to move? I cannot give her treats ALL the time, and to tell the truth sometimes that does not motivate her anyway. I cannot pull her with the Gentle Leader on, or I am afraid I will hurt her neck. Sure would appreciate any suggestions.

Then she's not walking well, is she?:p

Maybe it's the Gentle Leader. Some dogs just hate those things. Can you try walking her on a regular collar?

If you haven't taken her, obedience classes are great!

The name escapes me, but have you tried those "harnesses"?? Some people were raving about them in another thread..instead of the gentle leaders.

I will try walking her with the regular collar today. When she does just lie down, I usually switch to using the regular collar so that might be the answer. Yes, LuckyRescue she has been for obedience training.

You could try using a 20 or 30 foot lead and when she lays down, run away from her calling her name and making lots of high pitched noise.
Make the walk a game of chase :D
Good Luck
