OOOOhhh how cute! A big fluff ball!! We had a Newfie when I was a wee little girl!! He used to drag us around by our pant legs!! And when we went swimming in the creek, he'd jump on top of us and try to drag us out!!! He had good instincts!

Thanks everyone for the compliments - we think she is very cute too! :) We picked a newf because of their natural water rescue instincts and gentle nature (my husband picked the breed based on size - he wanted a BIG dog). We spend a lot of time during summer months at a lake that is about 20 minutes from our house and wanted a dog who would like the water. We also have lots of friends that have small children and we thought it would be good to have a dog that not only liked kids, but might save them if they fell in the water or got too far out, etc. The trick will be to teach Hazel how to tell if someone actually needs saving! :D
