Difficulty pooping, dragging bum on the carpet

One of my 5-week old kittens pooped in the litter box today and seemed to be in some pain while she was doing it. Sorry to be graphic, but one of the pieces had trouble coming out and she was freaking out and dragging her bum on the carpet to wipe it clean. I took a rag soaked with warm water and tried to clean it as much as I could, noticing that the anus was very red.

I'm feeding them dry kitten food soaked in formula. She seems to be eating and drinking well and urinates pretty frequently.

Also, the other one peed in the corner of the room today even though she knows where the litter box is and has used it before. How do I reinforce the litter box? I keep trying to put her in again and again, but she doesn't stay in.

At 5 weeks of age please don't expect too much from them. They could be having difficulty with elimination. I would suggest encouraging them to eliminate by stimulation. Their little systems might not be up to speed just yet.
