Trying to find a Rental trailer for May long weekend

Does anyone have any suggestions. I am just sooooo  !
We booked a trailer to place we stayed up last may long weekend. Problem was it rained all weekend and thought hey this year lets get a trailer. Anyhow so we booked this place in Oro Ontario and everything was fine. I wondered if my BF told them we have a dog. So I called and asked in a general manner whether they allowed dogs in their trailers. She said No. I said well we already booked. And then the most dreaded question every pit bull owner dreads. Ok well what kind? UM UM UM Well Hes a pit bull/ Then she goes on to say no and I said why she said because she had some incidents with pit bulls. I said you mean in less then a year and only one summer passed you have banned them. Must have been a crazy pit bull party here over the summer then. Anyways yes I lost my temper and she hung up on me. I know but I am Irish and blame my heritage for my temper. Anyhow, now we have no place to go for long weekend.

Does anyone have any good camping places you could suggest. It doesn't neccasarily have to have trailers or cabins but a bonus if it does. Also no provincial parks as they do not allow drinking for the first and last long weekends... Whats the point? God only knows...

We are heading up to Mosport for the May long weekend. They allow dogs of any kind and there is also some great car racing going on. Its just in Bowmanville. Dont know if you or your BF is interested in cars, but that place is a blast!

There's a place called Pridham Park. My dad used to have his trailer there. You can rent trailers, or rent a spot and bring a tent. No lake though, on the Nottowasaga (sp??) river. Lots of drinking allowed though.

Glen Rouge has a dog area, it is City owned and maintained and we all know the City is still adopting out pits, so.....
Have a look.

I've been to glen rouge. Actually can't even tell its in the heart of scarborough (toronto). I will check it out. I sent an email to the place you suggested raingirl. I called a KOA and they allwo pits butthey have to be muzzled, so do rotties.
I HATE I HATE MICHAEL BRYANT> now he ruins my summers.

Let me know if you go up to Pridham Park. I would love to know if my dad still lives there! However, having stayed at glenrouge many times, it's way better. I don't know if you know, but there is an abandoned ski hill in the rouge hiking area across the river from there. It's fun to hike to, and fun to roll down! There used to be a horse riding place near there, and the horses would ride through there, so the paths are still well identified. I highly suggest it.

Happy, that's a little big for just two people. If it was small I was considering it.

Raingirl, 2 people "and" a cute Odin dog :D
I had a much smaller one before, but it didn't have hot water or a shower, that's why we moved up to a bigger one! (wanted as many amenities as home!) :)

I grew up with trailers all my life. My dad currently lives in one (I think..we haven't spoken since 1997).

I remember spending summers at Temagami in the only trailers that fit on the back of a pickup, and they have that bed over the top of the truck (that's where I slept!). That was a long time ago!

I know which ones your talking about, I have seen a few of them in our trailer park over the years. It's amazing how many things they can fit into such a small space! (I wish they had designed my house more like that) :)

Ummm where is Temagami?

raingirl, I wasn;t able to check this out at home (PC probs) !
But I am looking at it now, It looks like a beautiful place! One of my co-workers lived in North Bay and said it's beautiful, and property is much cheaper there!
I wouldn't mind checking it out one day! :)

Thanks for the trailer parks happy cats and raingirl. I have been calling some and getting all the same responses. I really feel like slamming my head against the wall. I will call the ones you suggested.
KOAs tell me I have to muzzle him. Another place asked my BF if the dog we had was a rotti. He said no but didnt bother to tell them we had a pit. I didnt want any trouble so I called back and told her she said NO WAY!
I feel terrible because now me , my step daughter and BF are missing out big time just because are dog is a pit bull.
And capone is missing out just as much. Muzzle? NO WAY. I just won't do it. I assumed at least this would be the last summer he could be truly free. I HATE I HATE MICHAEL BRYANT!!!!

luvmypit, I have no suggestions, but just want to say sorry that you are being treated like a criminal or a undesirable element.

I bet you would have an easier time renting a place if you were a paroled murderer.

Tell them he's a mutt! When you get there, who are they to judge what breed your dog is or isn't??

What about using a halti on Capone?? Most people think its a muzzle anyway! The only thing you'll be risking is getting kicked out of the park.

This whole situation is b*ll*****. It's nothing more than discrimination  When the day comes that I am able to go camping again, it won't be without my babies!(or at least Copper :o ) If I get booted out of the camp, I'll raise hell!

Oh dear!! Lovemypit, that's so sad! We booked a place for July long weekend in BC, and they asked what kind of dog we have. We're only taking our oldest heeler up, and so I told them she's an Australian Cattle Dog, and she said good, because they don't allows pits or rotti's!! If only she knew heelers were bred from Bull Terriers and even Dingos! That may change her mind, but I'm not about to say anything! :)

I hope you find something that'll allow you to bring Capone without a muzzle. It's so sad what's happening to pits and their owners!! :(

You can try www.gorving.com. I know there are places you can rent rv's, I live and work in a rv resort and see rentals all the time.

My company is now being managed, (not owned) by MHC. The website is www.rvonthego.com. I am at the Ocala resort and you can view it here. They may have some resorts where you want to go...I dunno, the company added a few hundred properties in the merger last year.

I'll post one of the rental sites if I can dig it up...animals are welcome too.

Btw, anyone coming to our resort is told pet's are law. You must have them. If you do not like animals, we do not want you. *Disclaimer* This is said if you call us direct and not through our central reservations office.

I have a 30' Layton (by Skyline) travel trailer. Upgrading soon.

This is a list of places in Ontario. I checked Canadream but they don't take pets. I didn't check the websites from this page, but you might find something.

Hope you have found a place. There are 2 certainties - if you have found a spot it will RAIN. If you haven't, the weather will be nice. The rain is getting to me. My American Eskimo dog might just have to wear a raincoat.

Not yet happycats.... We have given up the cabin or cottage or trailer idea and are just gonna go camping. Im sure it will rain! As it did last year. Lastyear capone wouldn't come down from the picnic bench because the ground was like a small lake...

I am hoping I will find a place. Probably a private park that is smaller and less of a crowd.

I spoke with the owner of my trailer park, and dogs are welcome there, as long as they don't run loose, as there are kids, cats, and other dogs there.

The smaller the park, the less security & benefits you will have. I do not have a link but you can search for Cruise America. They rent class "c"' motorhomes all over the continent. There is another one I will add later once I get the info.

I have never had to rent an rv because I own one, but I'm in the "bizness" and we cater to mostly snowbirds from the north....from what I see the possibilties are endless and pet friendly.

Most parks are not "pet friendly", KOA parks are getting very unfriendly lately.
