The best part of a dog...

Prin
April 19th, 2005, 06:11 PM
I feel the silhouette of the back of a dog's head is what makes them truly unique and goofy. No other animal really has the little peak at the back of the head, and with the ears hanging, it's just the best part of a doggy, I feel...

You know, when you're behind someone with a dog in their car, that is what you see and it always makes me laugh. :) How can you take a dog too seriously when his head goes to a point?

Boo's is not too pronounced, but it's good enough for me. :)

You are so right, I love to look at dogs this way. Really nice pic of Boo, it's funny the bump on Blaze's head is large I tell him he has too big of a brain for his head ;)

Wow I didn't realize I had started such a funny thread. These are the best pictures ever!! :) I'm getting my fix of "back-of-the-head"!!

I'm also quite glad I am not nuts. My man doesn't see the back of the head thing, no matter how hard I try to explain it...

LSCKitty, that is a great picture. Dion watching over the beach. Very nice.

LOL, it reminds me of Sam the Sheepdog watching the flock of sheep from the coyote. Yes, really, I am almost 40. ;)

I love all these pics. they are so cute. I don't think I have one of the back of my babies, i'll have to see if I can get some. There is an old wives tail that says the bigger the "knot", or bump whatever you want to call it, on the back of a dogs head the smarter the dog is. Of course it's just an old wives tail, but thought I might mention it. (don't know why, guess I just wanted to hear myself type, sorry for mentioning something so stupid. lol)

Prin
April 27th, 2005, 04:28 PM
are you dissin' my Boo? I said before that his wasn't too pronounced!!! Just kidding. I don't believe that. But I do believe the bigger the head the smarter the dog. Aren't you the one with the italian greyhound? LOL. Just kidding. Dog intelligence has no rhyme or reason.. :)

I can't get a good pic of Buster's back, he always turns around to see what I'm doing!! But if that's true, Buster's on the verge of discovering a cure for cancer!

The only pic I have of Tuckers head, is when he was a pup, here he is asleep on my last dogs grave. Tucker use to have a cute little spot on the top of his head, now it is kind of spread out with the longer hair.

Boo too. There is a list of about 5 or 6 people so far. One person seriously offered to trade his dog for Boo... Ah, it's nice to have good doggies.

November 20th, 2005, 12:33 PM
:pawprint: You can tell so much about a dog from the back, ears up, tucked in tight, just relaxin'. I had never really thought of it before. Niki has a good size bump on her head, I'm positive she understands most of what I'm saying to her. I love looking at the back of her head when she's cocking her head from side to side trying to figure out what's going on in the other room. She just looks so smart then! I wish I had photos to post but my kids are death to cameras, they've broken three, and once my oldest pulled all the films out that I had waiting to develop! Lost two years of my middle son. Since then I have been afraid to buy a new camera. But I will just enjoy the pics posted here. Prin I love Boo's ears, they are so cute and floppy and big. :pawprint:

Rom has a pretty flat head, but very expressive ears. Here he is with ears at half mast, trying to bake the eyeballs right out of his head in front of the stove.

Prin

Shannon, Rom's head is fine. :) I like the ears out to the sides...

Prin I love Boo's ears, they are so cute and floppy and big. :pawprint: Yes, he has the best ears... They are huge and when I clean them I can practically stick my whole hand in there...

Ok, this is a relatively old thread, but I thought, there are all new doggies around, so why not revive it and see more back-of-the-heads? :D

Here's one from Boo from this spring (he was thinking of running away at the time).

Bring on s'more backs of heads!!:)

LOL! As if we have a problem showing off our pets. The real problem here is trying to take a picture of the BACK of your furbaby, while they insist on shoving their nose into your face saying "Oooohh, a camera???!! Yippee, take my picture. Woohoo...wait, what do you mean turn around? Are you crazy??? I'm ready for my close up!!!" :D

Rick, that is a BEAUTIFUL picture!!!

Taken last year . . . . through the winter, I thought the colours were washed out but then June came around again and there it was, the same lighter green as the picture above.

Have another one, Polly in her favourite perch . . . she's caught some mice sitting there, even though she's missing two feet.
