Most pet supply stores have them and will engrave them for you, or you can order one online at the Pets.ca store. They're very cute!

I forgot about those Lucky-- thanks, they're so pretty- we'll need new ones soon when we move... ;) Do the silver ones tarnish?

I got mine from"Humane Society of Canada"absolutely free and I got them by mail within a week.
I actually got their site from someone on here, but forgot whom and I forgot the website.
It shows Human Society of Canada on one side with phonenumbers and registration number of your dog/cat,the pets name and phonenumber on the other side.
I don't remember the web-site,but their phonenumber is(416)368-0405 or 1-800-641-5463

I have this one. It looks like pewter and is much cuter than it looks in this pic!

Lucky-- this is a bit off topic, but do you know where any profit from pets.ca's store goes? I was just wondering.

If you have a Petsmart or Petco around you, they have a vending machine that engraves the tag while you wait.

Milkbone tags are cheapest and last forever though. :D

I have a question, do you guys feel it is safe to have your animals NAME on the tag? I mean, someone can look at the tag, know your dogs name, call it and take your dog, knowing its call name.
I have tags on Justices Collar, but none of them have her name on it. They have my phone number, and city, as well as the number to call for her microchip information.
I wanted to get tags with her name, and people talked me out of it, for the reason stated above. Is that something that concerns any of you guys?

I have my guy's name on his tag. Good luck for a stanger getting close enough to read his tag (and keep all their fingers). Knowing his name or not, Valentin would not go with a stranger. Champ, on the other hand, would have gone with anyone whether they knew his name or not. I figure if they get lost, at least it would be a bit more of a comfort to them, to have someone using their names. Most dogs will respond to "here boy!" too, insofar as someone coaxing them away.
I just bought one of the pewter tags that we sell for Quebec golden rescue. I plan to have it engraved at one of the kiosks at the mall, Engrave It, or others like them. A Dremel works too, you just don't get points for neatness.

I had a tag from pet smart in Ottawa, it had the dogs name, my # plus reward and meds needed. I felt it was best to give all info I could. :thumbs up

When we got Boo, his name was Cliff. Name tag or not, you can always change a dog's name. If someone likes the look of your dog, they will steal it anyway, tags or no tags. And if they are close enough to read the collar, chances are they've already got their hands on your dog.

I put the name on my doggies' ID but they are never out of my sight. We have had offers to "trade" with other people and we know that even though are dogs are mutts, they are still hot property, so we never leave them tied up ANYWHERE, even if it's just for a couple of minutes. The ID's do come in handy at the dog park so I don't get asked 15 times what my dogs' names are.

I actually thought of getting a collar embroidered with their allergies because people in the park tend to give them cookies that they are allergic to and it costs a lot in vet bills to get the doggies fixed afterward... If it was easy to read, like a sign around their necks, maybe people would think twice.

It concerns me somewhat - so I chose to put my OWN name on my dog's tag. Also my cell number as well as my home number - so I can always be reached if something happens to her. She is also tattooed, which I feel is better than microchipping - although all 3 (tags, microchipping, tattooing) would be ideal.

I've always thought that tattooing is worse than microchipping, tattoos can be altered, rather easily.
Thanks for the input guys.

Fair enough, but the problem with microchips is that there are many different types of chips, and no universal scanning technology. No one method is foolproof.

My cats and dog have tattoos and microchips both. I elected not to put their names on their tags. They all say the same thing
Microchip Id/ Tattoo
Phone numbers
Special Needs (not true, but cant hurt)
